Inspiration can come from anywhere, even something as ordinary and seemingly mundane as a train ride, which is where Australian artist Ayano Takeuchi came up with the idea for Audrey & Audrey. This small 4in x 4in zine — an independent publication within an ‘underground’ print culture, made for small audiences and in small print runs — is a Mohawk Show 11 Finalist.
Audrey & Audrey was illustrated and designed by Takeuchi in black and white and printed on a digital press on Mohawk Via and Mohawk Ultrafelt. “I chose Mohawk Via Vellum for the inside as it is a toothy stock which added interest and enriched the black and white artwork,” said Takeuchi. “I used Mohawk Ultrafelt in black for the cover as it complemented the richness of the gold foil stamping.”
